Metabolic Study in ChREBP KO Mice

Description ChREBP (Mlxipl) is a transcription factor that mediates the metabolic response
to intracellular carbohydrates. Preliminary phenotyping shows decreased glucose
production and conversion of fructose to glucose in ChREBP KO
hepatocytes.

This study is approved for the Metabolism Core of UMass MMPC and will involve
basal glucose turnover measurement following a 4-hr fast in 15 ChREBP KO mice
(WT and KO mice). After a 2-hr fast, 3H-glucose will be infused for 2 hrs to
measure basal glucose turnover, and at the end of experiments (after 4 hrs of
fast), liver samples will be harvested for the glycogen measurement by Dr.
Herman's lab. This study will be led by Dr. Hye-Lim Noh and Dr. Hee Joon Kang.
