Metabolic Clamp Study in Afap1 KO Mice

Investigator Cunnick, Jess
Description Our knockout mouse demonstrates enhanced glucose tolerance, increased insulin
sensitivity, reduced adiposity and smaller visceral adipocytes. The knockout
mice remain leaner as they age. Serum triglyceride levels are similar to wild
type after fasting, but do not increase in the knockout mouse after feeding.
Serum insulin levels are similar during GTTs for both the WT and KO mouse. We
also observe a lactation failure in the knockout mouse. We believe this mouse
model may be valuable for better understanding the relationship between obesity
and diabetes.
