Metabolic Clamp Study in Aging Sirt4 KO Mice

Investigator Hirschey, Matthew
Description Previous work showed that Sirt4 plays a role in regulating insulin secretion and
body weight gain. Thus, Sirt4 may be be involved in the development of obesity
and diabetes. We found the Sirt4KO mice have elevated glucose-stimulated insulin
secretion and develop glucose intolerance with aging. We are now interested in
seeing if they are also insulin resistant by performing
hyperinsulinemic-euglycemic clamps.
