MMPC Mouse Diet Information

(last updated: February 2010)

Many factors can affect the etiology and pathogenesis of diabetic complications. One such factor is the mouse diet. Depending on the intended research goals, mouse diets can affect not only the experimental etiology of specific diabetic complications but in some cases are required to induce the pathology. Members of the MMPC use a number of different diets depending on the diabetic complication being studied and specific experimental question being asked. Table 1 presents the consensus of the MMPC investigators with regard to baseline diets under varying fat concentrations. Table 2 presents all the current diets used by the MMPC investigators grouped by diabetic complication type.
