Metabolic Cage Study in Chow & HFD-fed Adiponectin-RAGE KO Mice
Summary Data Summary
Investigator Schmidt, Ann Marie
Description Homozygous RAGE null mice (C57BL/6 Ager2/2 mice backcrossed >20 generations into
C57BL/6J [The Jackson Laboratory, Bar Harbor, ME]) and their littermate
RAGEexpressing controls were used. Ay mice (B6.Cg-Ay/J) (20) were purchased from
The Jackson Laboratory and bred with homozygous RAGE null mice to generate
C57BL/6 Ay/a; Ager2/2 and littermate controls. All mice studied were male, had
free access to water, and were subjected to 12-h light/dark cycles. At 6–8 weeks
of age, mice were fed HFD with 60% of calories from lard (D12492; Research
Diets, Inc., New Brunswick, NJ) or low-fat diet (LFD) with 13% of calories from
fat (5053 PicoLab Rodent Diet 20; LabDiet, Brentwood, MO). Fat and lean masses
were measured by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) scanning.
