Experiment

Influence of Myo KO mutation on metabolic phenotype and energy balance
Summary Data Summary
Investigator Adams, Sean
Description The objective of this study is to determine if knocking out myoglobin influences
substrate oxidation (respiratory exchange ratio) and other metabolic phenotypes
in high-fat fed, cold-challenged mice.

Male & female MyoKO and litter mate controls will have their baseline energy
expenditure assessed by CLAMS at 5 weeks of age. Animals will be placed on
high-fat (HFD) diet at 6 weeks After 5 weeks on diet (age= 11 w) and 12 weeks on
diet (age=17 w) energy expenditure will be reassessed. Energy expenditure will
be assesses at 10 and 22°C followed by body composition analysis by DEXA.
