Experiment

Effect of 6'-Sialyllactose on cognition with control or high fat diet.
Summary Data Summary
Investigator Raybould, Helen
Description To determine if addition of 6'-Sialyllactose ameliorates the cognitive
impairment effects of a high fat diet. Mice (32 male) were fed either a low fat
control (D12450J, equivalent) or high fat (D12451, equivalent) and provided 6'SL
by drinking water (10%) for 8 weeks. All 32 mice will then undergo y-maze or NO
testing.

Experimental Factor: Drug Administered

 6-Sialyllactose
6'-Sialyllactose belongs to the class of organic compounds known as n-acylneuraminic acids. These are neuraminic acids carrying an N-acyl substituent. 6'-Sialyllactose is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). Sialyllac
