Energy Balance/SABLE Order #13100 5/7/14
Summary Data Summary
Investigator Davies, Sean
Description Energy expenditure measured by indirect calorimetry in the Promethion by Sable
Systems. Activity, food intake and water intake are also continuously measured.
Measurements were taken for 5 consecutive days.
Running wheels were not present in the cage.
Mice were fed ad libitum.
Water: regular tap water (Vehicle), water treated with pEcN (pEcN is EcN with
empty plasmid without NAPE as a control), or water treated with pNAPES (Cloned
Arabidopsis thaliana NAPE synthase (pNAPES), ad libitum.

Groups:
Male WT (C57BL/6 ) mice.
Mice were fed a High Fat Diet (TestDiet - 58Y1).
Mice were given either regular tap water (Vehicle), water treated with pEcN
(pEcN is EcN with empty plasmid without NAPE as a control), or water treated
with pNAPES (Cloned Arabidopsis thaliana NAPE synthase (pNAPES).
Male WT Vehicle HF : n=10,
Male WT pEcN HF : n=10,
Male WT pNAPES HF: n=10

Purpose of the experiment: This experiment will determine whether the groups of
mice have different energy expenditure and feeding behaviors.

Applicable Research Areas: Metabolism , Body weight regulation, energy
expenditure, feeding behavior.
