Description This inbred strain is derived from the outbred strain ICR.
ICR/HaJ may serve as a general purpose strain and it is
known for susceptibility to induced colon cancer. In
contrast to resistant C57BL/6HaJ (009123), 100% of ICR/HaJ
mice develop colon tumors and adenocarcinomas by 24 weeks
following subcutaneous injection of 1,2-dimethylhydrazine
(DMH). This strain may be useful in therapeutic drug testing
and genetic analysis of carcinogen-induced colon cancer.
