Description A beta-geo cassette replaced exons 1 through 5. The absence
of protein expression was confirmed by western blot analysis
on kidney extracts. Slc5a2 mutant mice were generated at
Lexicon Pharmaceuticals (The Woodlands, TX). The Slc5a2
targeting vector was derived using the Lambda KOS system.

Phenotype Description SGLT2 deletion resulted in a threefold increase in urine
output and a 500-fold increase in glucosuria, as well as
compensatory increases in feeding, drinking, and activity.
SGLT2 knockout mice were protected from HFD-induced
hyperglycemia and glucose intolerance and had reduced plasma
insulin concentrations compared with controls.
