Strain
B6.129P2-Cd40tm1Kik/J

Summary Data Summary
Official Name B6.129P2-Cd40tm1Kik/J
Common Name CD40 KO
Description A neomycin cassette was inserted into exon 3. Disruption of
the functionality of the protein was confirmed by a surface
expression assay in spleen cells in which no binding of
Tnfsf5 to ligand was observed.
Development Status Phenotyping ongoing
Creation Method knockout
Phenotype Description Mice homozygous for the targeted mutation are viable and
fertile. Homozygous mutant mice are deficient of CD40
antigen and exhibit impaired immunoglobulin class switching.
They mount an IgM response but no IgG, IgA, and IgE response
to thymus-dependent antigens. However, IgG as well as IgM
responses to thymus-independent antigens is normal. Germinal
center formation is defective in mutant mice.
