Description Background/Purpose: To measure energy expenditure and body composition in 12
month old mice placed on one of 3 diets(control (AIN93G), ketogenic (90% fat,
10% protein, 0.7% carbohydrate), or low carb (70%fat, 20% protein, 10%
carbohydrate)) for 1 month prior to analysis. All animals are fed 11.2 kcal/day
of their designated diet. This is one timepoint (12 mo) of a cross-sectional
study and a component of a larger longitudinal study looking at the effects of
the different diets on lifespan and aging.
