Gut microbiota analysis: Effect of OGG1 knockout in chow-fed mice
Summary Data Summary
Investigator Sampath, Harini
Description Male WT and Ogg1 -/- (OKO) (C57BL/6 background) mice were fed a standard chow
diet (Picolab Laboratory Rodent Diet (5L0D), Purina Mills) for ~16 weeks.
Starting at 12-14 weeks of age, animals were individually housed for the diet
studies. Fresh fecal samples were collected after 5 weeks of feeding in
individually housed setting (19-20 weeks total) and sent for 16S rDNA amplicon
sequencing analysis.

Our goal at this time is to understand if there might be any significant
differences between animals that are worth pursuing and to generate preliminary
data in support of an aim for a new grant.

Although we do not know what to expect from gut microbiome analyses at this
point, we suspect that there might be differences in the gut microbiome between
these cohorts based on differential susceptibility in the two genotypes to
weight gain/metabolic syndrome, as well as other phenotypes like ulcerative
colitis.
