Experiment

Circulating TG levels in tx-J mice treated with penicillamine
Summary Data Summary
Investigator Shibata, Noreene
Description The C3HeB/FeJ-Atp7b/J is a genetic mouse model of Wilson disease in
humans. It is being used to investigate the effect of maternal dietary
methyl-group supplementation, with or without copper-chelating agent
administration, on markers of DNA methylation in fetuses and offspring. Studies
in this model will open the possibility to 1) explain the effect of nutrition on
clinical manifestations of WD and other genetic diseases, and 2) study
epigenetic mechanisms of gene expression regulation and their effects on disease
phenotype. For progeny A539-547...Virgin females placed on #110098 (Dyets, 1.1
g/kg choline chloride) 2 weeks prior to breeding and remained on diet until
progeny weaned, progeny weaned onto #110098 until tissues harvested. For progeny
A426-458...Virgin females placed on #110184 (Dyets, 5 g/kg choline chloride) 2
weeks prior to breeding and remained on diet until progeny weaned, progeny
weaned onto #110098 until tissues harvested. Penicillamine administered via
drinking water to select tx-J groups @ ~12 weeks of age until tissue harvest.
