Experiment

Endotoxemia in obese and lean mice following acute radiation exposure
Summary Data Summary
Investigator Murphy, William
Description Radiosensitivity of lean and obese mice to acute radiation exposure. Obesity
environment produces high level of pro-inflammatory cytokines which could
exacerbate effects of radiation exposure. We hypothesize that GI tract and liver
would be the main target tissues for inflammation post-radiation. Male
C57BL/6NTac were fed either 10% LFD (D12450J) or 60% HFD (D12492) for 4 months.
Animals on both diets were divided into 3 groups : control and 2 doses of X-ray
(TBI 800 cGy and 1050 cGy); mice were euthanized and tissues obtained on day 3
post-radiation.
