Experiment

Hyperinsulinemic Hyperglycemic clamp order # 22276 July 2017
Summary Data Summary
Investigator Hegde, Vijay
Description We have generated a novel mouse model that allows us to constitutively activate,
an adenoviral protein, E4orf1 in an inducible fashion specifically in the
adipose tissue. In transgenic mice, the expression of E4orf1 improves glucose
disposal and prevents liver fat accumulation, independent of insulin. This
property is important as in type 2 diabetes, levels of glucose in blood rise
because insulin produced by the body is less effective to dispose blood glucose
into various tissues of the body.
