Experiment

Hyperinsulinemic Clamp Order #1470 2/26/08
Summary Data Summary
Investigator Kuo, Calvin
Description Neutralization of VEGF signaling via soluble VEGF receptor in adult animals
reveals previously unsuspected role of VEGF and the vascular endothelium in
modulating glucose metabolism. Characterizing the physiological effects of VEGF
inhibitors on glucose metabolism provides insight into the regulation of
metabolism by VEGF signaling and explores the therapeutic potential of VEGF
inhibitors in controlling hyperglycemia in pathological settings such as type II
DM.

in C57BL/6J or CB17/SCID mice:
lower blood glucose level (fed and fasting)
improved glucose tolerance (IPGTT)
lower serum insulin level
suppression of hepatic g6pc and pepck

in Lepr db/db mice:
lower blood glucose level (fed and fasting)
improved glucose tolerance (IPGTT)
lower serum insulin level
