Experiment

2018-03-08 Myers - Andrew 6 mice NMR
Summary Data Summary
Investigator CHENG, WENWEN
Description The control group of mice were injected with a control virus in the brain stem,
whereas the experimental group was injected with a virus that can express
TetTox, to silence neurons in the same brain area. The goal was to ascertain if
silencing the neurons in the brain stem could affect the animals' body
compositions over some time compared with the control group.

Name / AbbreviationDescription

Experimental Factor: Experimental Group

 Control
This animal belongs to the control group for the experiment.
 Experiment
This animal belongs to experimental group that is homozygous for gene manipulations.

Experimental Factor: Virus Injected

 AAV-DIO-GFP:TetTox
AAV-TetTox is to cre-dependently express not only a fluorophore but also a protein called TetTox, which will block the virus infected cre positive neurons from receiving neurotransmitters/hormones/peptides from connected neurons.
 AAV-DIO-mcherry
Control AAV virus is cre dependent for the expression of a fluorophore, indicating the cre positive neurons are infected by the virus.
