Experiment

Cognitive effects of high glycemic index diet + sHE inhibitor trans-AUCB or
HGI-curcumin diet on mice.
Summary Data Summary
Investigator Villablanca, Amparo
Description Male and female C57BL/6J mice (~20 weeks) were place on a control (TD.08485) or
HGI diet (TD.05230) and treated with the sHE inhibitor, trans-AUCB, via drinking
water (1%w/v + PEG). In addition, a second group of animals were placed on a HGI
diet + curcumin (polyphenol) (TD. 190668). Diet was provided for ~3 months prior
to assessing cognitive function by y-maze. Mice were adapted to testing room for
30 min, were placed in the center of the Y-maze and were tracked with an
overhead camera for the extent of a 8-min trial. An elevated white plastic
Y-maze with three 35 cm arms at 120-degree angles. Entry into each arm was
counted and alternations and max alterations was determined. An alternation is
counted if the subject enters all arms consecutively without repeat. Max
alternation is the total number of possible alternations (total # of arm visits
-2). The % alternation score is the number of alternations divided by max
alternation and an indicator of spatial memory.

 Soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH) inhibitor
Soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH) is an enzyme that catalyzes the hydrolysis of epoxyeicosatrienoic acids (EETs), which are lipid mediators derived from arachidonic acid through the cytochrome P450 epoxygenase pathway. Inhibitors sEH appear to reduce the
