Experiment

Liver lipid levels in B6 mice fed ketogenic diet
Summary Data Summary
Investigator Ramsey, Jon
Description At 18 months of age, male C57BL/6J mice were randomly assigned to the control
(CD), intermittent ketogenic (IKD), or ketogenic (KD) diet. IKD mice were fed KD
meals on three consecutive days of a week and the KD mice were fed a KD meal
each day. The control diet contained (% of total kcal) 10% protein, 74%
carbohydrate, and 16% fat. The ketogenic diet contained 10% protein, <0.5%
carbohydrate, and 89.5% fat. At 27 months of age, mice were sacrificed with CO2
inhalation in a euthanasia chamber after an overnight fast (18 hours). Blood was
collected with cardiac puncture. Serum was obtained and stored at -80 degree C.
Liver tissues were snap frozen and stored in liquid nitrogen till analysis.
