Experiment

Hyperinsulinemic-Euglycemic Clamp Order #1025 12/3/07
Summary Data Summary
Investigator Moustaid-Moussa, Naima
Description This renin transgene was generated by Dr. O smithies for cardiovascular disease
studies. Our lab has been interested in the role of the renin angiotensin system
in obesity and diabetes and thus our interest in this model as mice
over-expressing the substrate for this enzyme develop obesity and hypertension.

Renin transgenic mice exhibit:
~high blood pressure
~excessive urination
~develop cardiac hypertrophy between ages 6 to 8 month and start dying around
this age (see Caron et al, PNAS 101(9): 3106-3111, 2004)

Applicable research area(s): Diabetes, Obesity, Cardiovascular
