Description To characterize the bacterial community based on gut location in chow-fed mice
and to determine if different sequencing platforms (454, Illumina, and Ion PGM)
and different primers give comparable results with the same samples.

10 C57BL/6 male mice- Individually housed with Care-Fresh bedding Diet: Harlan
Teklad Global 18% protein rodent diet #2918 (Chow). Samples collected and
tested: 1. Feces 2-24h (48h) cage collected fecal samples (pooled); 2. Single
pellet of freshly collected feces; 3. Formed fecal pellet from colon; 4. Small
Intestine contents; 5. Cecum contents; 6. Large Intestine contents;
Platforms/Primers tested: 454-27F-519R; 454- 515F-806R;
Illumina-2x300bp-515F-806R; Ion PGM-515F-806R.
