Experiment

Sable Energy Balance 2/23/15 #18484
Summary Data Summary
Investigator Wasserman, David
Description Energy expenditure measured by indirect calorimetry in the Promethion by Sable
Systems. Activity, food intake and water intake are also continuously measured.
Measurements were taken for 4 consecutive days.
Running wheels were not present in the cage.
Mice were fed ad libitum.
Water: regular tap water or water treated with Salicylamine (Salicylamine added
to the drinking water at a concentration of 3g/L.), ad libitum.

Groups:
Male WT (C57BL/6J ) mice.
Mice were fed a High Fat Diet (BioServ F3282).
Male WT HF Water: n=12,
Male WT HF Salicylamine Water: n=12,

Purpose of the experiment: This experiment will determine whether the groups of
mice have different energy expenditure and feeding behaviors.

Applicable Research Areas: Metabolism , Body weight regulation, energy
expenditure, feeding behavior.
