Strain
B6.129S4-Pkd1tm2Ggg Tg(Nes-cre)Wme

Summary Data Summary
Official Name B6.129S4-Pkd1tm2Ggg Tg(Nes-cre)Wme
Common Name Pkd1tm2Ggg Tg(Nes-cre)Wme
Description Pkd1 flox: These mice possess loxP sites on either side of
exons 2 through 4 of the targeted gene. Mice that are
homozygous for this allele are viable, fertile, normal in
size and do not display any gross physical or behavioral
abnormalities. When these mutant mice are bred to mice that
express Cre recombinase, resulting offspring will have exons
2 through 4 deleted in the cre-expressing tissue(s).

Nes-cre transgene: The transgenic construct contained a
nestin promoter followed by cre recombinase sequence
adjoined to a nuclear localization signal. Intron 2 of the
nestin gene was included upstream of a polyadenylation
signal. While the endogenous nestin promoter is
CNS-specific, Southern blot analysis showed the ubiquitous
expression of cre in transgenic mice. Variable
mosaicism/partial deletion of loxP-flanked alleles occurs
before embryonic day 10.5, and it is detectable in all adult
organs examined including germ line cells.
