Strain
B6.129-Leprtm3(cre)Mgmj/J

Summary Data Summary
Official Name B6.129-Leprtm3(cre)Mgmj/J
Common Name B6.129-Leprtm3(cre)Mgmj/J
Description LeprCre knock-in mice have an internal ribosome entry site
(IRES) fused to a Cre recombinase gene into the 3' UTR of
exon 18b of the leptin receptor (Lepr) gene. Leptin is an
adipocyte-derived hormone that acts via its receptor (LepRb)
on central nervous system neurons. LepRb is expressed most
highly in brain regions that control food intake, energy
expenditure and metabolism, and central nervous system
(CNS). Homozygous mice are viable and fertile. When these
mice are bred with mice containing loxP-flanked sequence,
cre-mediated recombination will result in deletion of the
floxed sequences in the cre-expressing cells of the
offspring.
