Experiment

Effect of UCP1 overexpression on energy expenditure in males at room temperature
(22C) and under cold challenge
Summary Data Summary
Investigator Yoon, John
Description Uncoupling Protein 1 (UCP1) is a mitochondrial protein responsible for
thermogenic respiration, a specialized capacity of brown adipose tissue and
beige fat that participates in non-shivering adaptive thermogenesis to
temperature and diet variations and more generally to the regulation of energy
balance. This study will determine whether UCP1-Cre alters energy expenditure.
WT and UCP1-cre mice will undergo indirect calorimetry at std vivarium
temperature (22C) and under cold challenge (10C).
