Strain
C57BL/6J-Crattm1.1Pbrc Tg(Ckmm-cre)5Khn

Summary Data Summary
Official Name C57BL/6J-Crattm1.1Pbrc Tg(Ckmm-cre)5Khn
Common Name C57BL/6J-Crattm1.1Pbrc Tg(Ckmm-cre)5Khn
Description Conditional homozygous knockout of the carnitine
acetyltransferase (Crat) gene. The promoter that drives the
Cre gene is for the muscle specific creatine kinase. A loxP
site was inserted into the Crat gene intron 8 and a floxed
neo cassette was inserted into intron 11 via homologous
recombination. Cre mediated recombination removed the neo
cassette from the floxed Crat allele. For the transgene, a
6.5 kb genomic DNA fragment of the Ckmm gene containing the
promoter and enhancer 1, untranslated exon 1, 3kb of intron
1 including the enhancer 2 region, and the first 16 bp of
exon 2 drives expression of a modified cre with an SV40
large T antigen nuclear localization signal. Expression is
directed to the heart and skeletal muscle
