Strain
C57BL/6J-Bscl2tm1Lchan Tg(Adipoq-cre/ERT2)1Soff

Summary Data Summary
Official Name C57BL/6J-Bscl2tm1Lchan Tg(Adipoq-cre/ERT2)1Soff
Common Name C57BL/6J-Bscl2lox/lox Tg(Adipoq-cre/ERT2)1Soff
Description An FRT-flanked neo cassette with a 3' loxP site was inserted
upstream of exon 3 of the Bscl2 gene. An additional loxP
site was inserted downstream of exon 3 of the Bscl2 gene.

Bscl2f/f mice were backcrossed to C57BL/6 for eight
generations and then interbred with mice in which Cre
expression is driven by adiponectin promoter-induced by TAM
[AdipqCreERT2+ mice] to generate TAM-inducible Ad-mKO mice.
Development Status Phenotyping ongoing
Creation Method knockin
Background C57BL/6J
Breeding Type intercross
Phenotype Description Mice homozygous for a knock-out allele exhibit severe
generalized lipodystrophy with hepatic steatosis, glucose
intolerance, and insulin resistance. These transgenic mice
express a tamoxifen-inducible cre recombinase, Cre-ERT2,
under the control of the Adipoq gene promoter. They may be
useful in generating adipocyte-specific targeted mutants in
studies related to adipose tissue function and storage,
obesity, and other metabolic diseases.
